Zebra / Day & Night Blinds

What are zebra blinds?

Zebra blinds, also called day and night blinds or dual sheer shades, are roller blinds made from one continuous fabric with alternating sheer and solid bands. The fabric loops around the roller, so as you turn the chain or press the remote, the front bands slide past the back bands. Line up the solid bands and the window is private. Line them up with the sheer bands and soft daylight comes through. Raise the blind fully and the window is clear.

Why choose them

Most window coverings make you choose between light and privacy. Zebra blinds give you both in one product, with a clean modern headrail and none of the bulk of layered drapery. They suit any room where the light changes through the day, and they are easy to live with: one motion to adjust, a quick wipe to clean, and a motorized option for tall or hard-to-reach windows.

Sheer bands paired with solid bands in a light-filtering or blackout weight.

Colors and textures

Neutrals from white and cream through grey, taupe, and charcoal, in smooth and textured weaves.

Control

Chain, cordless, or motorized with remote, app, or schedule.

Fabric-wrapped cassette for a finished look, or open roll for a minimal one.

Mount

Inside the window recess to show off the trim, or outside to cover it and block more light.

Types of zebra blinds we make

  • Light-filtering zebra blinds

Sheer and semi-opaque bands that soften daylight and give daytime privacy. The most popular choice for living rooms and kitchens.

  • Blackout zebra blinds

Solid bands in a blackout weave for bedrooms and media rooms. Closed, they block most light. By day the sheer bands still open.

  • Motorized zebra blinds

Any zebra blind with a whisper-quiet motor. Control it by remote, phone, or schedule, with a solar panel option so nothing needs wiring.

How it works

  1. 1Slide the fabric layers to let light in
  2. 2Slide them back to line up the solid bands for privacy
  3. 3Stop anywhere in between to find your balance

Where they work best

  • Living rooms

Soft filtered light by day and full privacy at night, without giving up the view.

  • Bedrooms

Choose the blackout weave for sleep-in dark, with sheer bands for gentle mornings.

  • Home offices

Cut screen glare in one motion and keep the room bright.

  • Kitchens

Wipe-clean fabrics and a slim cassette that stays out of the way.

Choosing your zebra blinds

Four decisions shape how your zebra blinds look and work. We walk through all of them at your free in-home measure, but here is a head start.

  1. 01

    Light-filtering or blackout?

Light-filtering fabrics glow softly when closed and suit living spaces. Blackout fabrics block most light when the solid bands line up, which is what you want in bedrooms and media rooms. You can mix both through the house.

  2. 02

    Cassette or open roll?

A cassette hides the roll inside a fabric-wrapped headrail for a built-in look. Open roll leaves the roll visible for a lighter, more minimal profile. Both mount inside or outside the window recess.

  3. 03

    Inside or outside mount?

Inside mount sits within the window recess and shows the trim. Outside mount covers the frame, blocks more light at the edges, and is the better choice for shallow recesses or windows with handles that stick out.

  4. 04

    Zebra or roller?

If you mostly want the blind up or down, a roller blind does the job with less to adjust. If you adjust for light and privacy through the day, zebra blinds earn their keep.

Questions

Zebra / Day & Night Blinds FAQs

Something else on your mind? Call or text (720) 605-6782.

How do zebra blinds work?

The fabric is a continuous loop of alternating sheer and solid bands. As the blind moves, the front layer slides over the back layer, so you can line the solid bands up for privacy, open the sheer bands for filtered light, or raise the whole blind for a clear window.

Are zebra blinds private at night?

Yes, when closed. The solid bands overlap the sheer bands so there are no gaps. With a light-filtering fabric you may see a soft glow from inside after dark but not detail. A blackout fabric blocks that too.

Can zebra blinds be motorized?

Yes. We add a whisper-quiet motor with remote, app, or schedule control, and a solar panel option keeps the battery charged with no wiring.

Do zebra blinds work on wide windows or patio doors?

They work well on most windows. For very wide openings we usually recommend two blinds side by side or our sheer verticals, and we advise on that at the measure.

How do I clean zebra blinds?

Dust them with a soft cloth or a vacuum brush attachment. For marks, use a lightly damp cloth with mild soap. Do not soak the fabric.

How long do zebra blinds take?

Every blind is made to order in our own production facility. We give you a firm timeline at your in-home measure.
