What are skylight blinds?
Skylight blinds are made for roof windows and skylights. They are built to hold the fabric flat against angled glass, so they do not sag or swing the way a normal blind would. Light-filtering fabrics soften overhead sun and blackout fabrics block it. Manual blinds are operated with a rod, and motorized blinds with a remote, app, or schedule.
Why choose them
A skylight lets in more sun than a wall window of the same size, straight down onto the room, and in Colorado that means heat and glare from late morning on. A blind over the glass cuts both, protects the room from UV, and makes vaulted rooms and lofts comfortable all day. Because skylights are usually out of reach, most of the skylight blinds we install are motorized.

Choosing a skylight blind
Skylights are all different. These are the decisions that matter.
- 01
Manual or motorized?
If you can reach the skylight comfortably with a rod, manual works. If you would need a ladder, go motorized. Most of ours are.
- 02
Light-filtering or blackout?
Light-filtering keeps the room bright while cutting glare. Blackout is for bedrooms, lofts, and media rooms.
- 03
Heat matters more up top
A skylight blind cuts glare fully and a good share of the heat. Lighter fabrics reflect more of it.

Will a blind stay flat on an angled skylight?
Yes. Skylight blinds are built to hold the fabric against the glass at any pitch.
Do I need an electrician for a motorized skylight blind?
No. The motor runs on a rechargeable battery, with a solar panel option that keeps it topped up from the skylight itself.
Will it stop the heat?
It stops the glare and cuts a good share of the heat, more so with a lighter fabric. It will not turn a hot loft into a cold one on its own.
Can you fit any brand of skylight?
We make each blind to measure, so yes. We measure the glass and the frame at the visit.
How do I operate a manual skylight blind?
With a rod that hooks into the blind, so you can raise and lower it from the floor on reachable skylights.
How do I clean a skylight blind?
A soft duster or vacuum brush on the fabric. Motorized blinds can be lowered to clean the glass behind.
